Down But Not Out...
By Simon Hinchco

You can get down in the dumps
When you're here to be Queer
Times can get tough
And you start to not care

About life, about love
They don't seem to matter
Too afraid to talk
"You're as mad as a hatter"

Freedom never seems free
Life can get hard
Fight of your life to get out
But your life ends up scarred

A voice in your head
Says to keep going, carry on
This fight is worth fighting
Keep your head up and stay strong

Find someone you trust
Speak up and seek help
Don't settle for a lifetime
Encircled in doubt

It's not always easy
It's okay to shed tears
But be proud and proclaim
"I'm a fabulous Queer!"
